![]() Okay then, I started to think that maybe I am so neutral that it has been really tough to see which side I lean, but it's definitely to the warm side. Finally, though, after a lot of experimentation I found that my foundation color that matches my skin-tone best is a mix of neutral and a small hint of gold. It has been helpful to have your makeup list from both of those seasons to compare, but I suit some colors from each of them. I have been going back and forth between light spring and light summer since then, trying to figure it out. I was draped as a light summer several years ago, but something was off. It's amazing how two 'sister' seasons can be so similar-looking, yet so very different. Again, Rachel, your draping cards helped me find a color home and it's so nice! I get so many compliments on the colors I wear, and it's hard to believe it all just comes from carrying around a pack of swatches with me in my purse.Īnyhow, this is a great breakdown. My self-profiled stab at Bright Winter was at least in the right zone - the right warmth-to-coolness and the right kind of warmth (spring). Meanwhile, a lot of what the internet calls 'pastels' (winter's icy hues or the soft seasons' muted tones) wash me out like nothing else. So I thought I must be some sort of autumn or winter, because they seemed 'wintery' to me. As LSu, that purpleish grey is one I found years ago - and the blue-grey. Each season has such a funny mix of colors you'd expect, and then outliers that almost look like they belong somewhere else. Great post! It was posts like these that helped me finally figure out my colors season. Soft Spring is less light but has more clarity & brightness like True & Bright Springs. Īlso, if you determine you are a Soft Light Spring (the "Light Warm Soft" category) then it's possible you flowing secondarily into Soft Spring like me (the "Clear Warm Soft" category). ![]() for many other WOC Light Springs they're either a tiny bit softer + deeper or more neutral tone than Alicia). Truth is Beauty also has an eye opening blogpost about Alicia Keys being a Light Spring if you haven't already read it (although Alicia is truly a Light Spring in every sense if the word. Read through all 3 Light Spring categories and see which one suits you best! I also recommend skimming over the Idealist Style color analysis homepage afterwards, just to get an overview of it all. I have a medium skintone that seems to be rather versatile too- I think springs can handle a surprising amount of colors outside of their correct color season.ĭany, here's a link to a blog called Idealist Style concerning this topic which ABSOLUTELY changed my beauty life. despite the terribly closeminded and offensively non-diverse representatives and season descriptions/requirements. I used to be in the same situation Dany!!! I am African American as well (mixed race), and I thought I was going crazy when I started looking into color analysis because there were absolutely noooooooooooo WOC spring examples! But I knew I had to stick to my gut and stay true to what colors I KNEW looked best of me which are Spring. Once i figured out i was a light spring, I can wear soft pinks, greys and greens without looking weird. I thought that i couldnt wear soft tones in makeup. What you explained really helped and makes it very clear which pallet i should be in. The pastels just look so pretty and delicate on me, that i was almost confused. The one thing I've noticed though are those light summer colors work also. Literally the light spring pallet makes me look like im wearing make up. Im a lighter complected african american female. Spring colors make me glow, brings out the blush tones in my cheeks and makes the warmth of my dark brown eyes stand out more. ![]() Autumn makes me look very orange or burnt. Winter colors stand out on me but everyone complements the clothes and it brings out dark shadow. Summer colors make me look glowy yet pale. ![]() I literally change colors depending on what i wear. Beyond my own observation, i've been told that im a chameleon. ![]()
